Children love to be included--in everything. They want to do what you're doing, which is natural, because that's how kids learn. If you're using tarot cards, they are already learning about tarot.
While some people are uncomfortable giving their child a tarot deck, it can be a unique learning experience for them. Along with other magickal tools that you may allow them to have, such as a wand, spell jars, or potions, tarot decks can be powerful objects that teach children valuable lessons--starting with how to take care of things that are important.
If you feel that your child is ready for a tarot deck, as a parent, it's up to you to decide when and how that happens. While some people think eight years old is a good age, others will give their children cards at a much younger age.
There is no wrong or right answer in this situation, and a lot of people's misgivings are likely to be rooted in something deeper. Many people feel that tarot is taboo at some level, maybe due to a religious upbringing.
If you decide to get a tarot deck for your child, you should consider whether you are comfortable with the images in the traditional Rider Waite Smith tarot decks, as they feature mild nudity. Also, the Devil and the Death cards are too spooky for some sensitive young children.
Some people won't be bothered by that, as the nudity is not pornographic in any way, and skeletons and monsters don't spook all children. But other people will want something targeted to a younger audience, and there are plenty of tarot decks made just for kids that feature adorable animals, stick people, and magical creatures like unicorns.
For you, it may be a matter of which age group you decide to introduce your kids to tarot. For example, puppies and kitties are going to be a better idea for a three-year-old than a traditional tarot deck.
